Just not 5 star service
Pros:The rooms and facilities are amazing!
The Australian Head Chef cooks amazing desserts!
Cons:1) Pamper the guests - they want to spend money there!
2) Shuttles to Hua Hin need to be more regular.
3) Free mini bar is a let down.
While this resort has all the makings of a 5 star hotel (the rooms and amenities truly are 5 star) the service, particularly from the bar, lets this hotel down. It was a reoccurring theme (with waits of up to an hour to receive our drink orders). One particular afternoon the beach bar was closed due to rain and we were told to head to their HI-SO bar if we wanted to keep drinking. The problem is, there was no staff at this bar! I went behind the bar twice to use the phone to call reception and ask for a bartender, who showed up 20 minutes later. Oh, and did I mention it was their Happy Hour?!
I would have spent so much more money at the hotel if I could just get service! Seriously, I left the hotel in the rain and walked around the corner to a tiny local food shop where I finally received the pampering that I wanted. Another night the drink service was so slow I left to buy some BYO beers for our room.
Additionally, I recommend guests research the location of the hotel before committing to this hotel. It is approximately 30 minutes from Hua Hin. There are cheap shuttles offered by the hotel but at very sparsely scheduled times..., and (again, very un-5-stars) once they are fully booked you're on your own!
The hotel has so much potential..., but unless the staff are retrained with a customer-centric focus then I can't recommend this hotel.

Step outside to unwind on the sand beach. For a convenient ride to the sand and surf, hop on the resort's beach shuttle (surcharge). Spend the day at the beach and work on your tan in the sun loungers (chaise longues) or kick back in the shade with complimentary cabanas and umbrellas. At SO/ Sofitel Hua Hin you can cool off in one of the 3 outdoor swimming pools and indulge in a pampering afternoon at the full-service spa. There are 2 restaurants on site, along with a coffee shop/café. You can enjoy a drink at one of the bars, which include a beach bar, a poolside bar, and a bar/lounge.
