I was given the option of a port side room or city side and I chose port side. Burnie is a working port and I enjoyed watching the comings and goings of the ships. It may not be a traditionally 'beautiful' water view, but I thought it was really cool. Room was nice. Comfy bed with lovely linen. Only thing I didn't like was the shower curtain. I really enjoyed my stay here.

Was expecting more

Pros: Close to the city
Cons: Less noise. Insulation in walls. An understanding from staff when there is discomfort in your guests.
Location: It's Burnie, there's not much.
Pictures of room indicated there was kitchen facilities, which there weren't. Was over-priced for what we got. Walls are wafer thin so you can hear the people in the next room breathing. There was renovations happening during the day so my partner who stayed in the room during the day had to vacate because of the relentless noise and was told by staff that "everyone works during the day" which she was doing in the room. She went into the dining area where the noise was still being heard and was then charged for the drink she ordered after mentioning how uncomfortable it was being in the room with the noise. I'm headed back to Burnie for another week long stay soon but I'll be trying somewhere cheaper.

Old hotel - need of refurb

Pros: Staff was nice.
Cons: Cleaning - Television had dust all over it. Whole accommodation could do with a refurb. Shower definitely needs to be improved. It is dangerous
Location: Not in the best part of town. View of mining? from window
Old room and furniture. Shower quite dangerous for older guests. Have to step up into bath but the bottom of bath is curved so unable to place feet firmly or level on surface. Felt most insecure.. It is a safety issue.

A Hotel needing its make-over to be finished.

Pros: Proximity to the CBD and casual dining.
Cons: More up to date in the in-room directory and on the Evacuation plan.
Location: Four fast-food outlets adjacent/nearby.
Looks good from the outside and at first look on the inside. Then you discover that the heat-pump blows down on the bed. The folder in the room has a lot of info. Some confusing, some plain out of date. Breakfast is no-longer served where the folder indicates. My room carpet was stained from the overflow of the shower at some stage. The single bed lamp is supposed to serve three occupants. In the room where there is a single plus a queen, the queen is pushed hard up against the wall. And the TV hides the switch for the lamp above the mirror. To cap it off, the Fire Evacuation Plan downstairs is out-of-date, there having been some building alterations that render the plan ineffective. Even the "You are Here" tag is in the wrong place.
