Stamford Plaza Auckland - Auckland Hotels

Stamford Plaza Auckland

"A fridge and bottle of water in the room is a must"
I booked via wotif for overnight accommodation at Stamford Plaza Auckland because of previous experience in Stamford Plaza Brisbane. Quality of service in Auckland was not as good as I received in Brisbane. I was particularly concerned that the room did not even have a fridge and no cold water.I believe that fridge and cold water are most essential necessities in hotel accommodation even if there is no mini bar required or provided.

"Quality hotel, but a bit soul-less"
Good quality hotel in a central location. Plenty of good restaurants in SkyCity and neighbouring streets. The hotel was spotlessly clean, everything is good quality. My only problem was that wifi had problems one evening, and the hotel doesn't have much of a "personality".

The Langham, Auckland

83 Symonds Street, Box 2771, Auckland - Map
"best place to stay in Auckland."
All good! The Langham is without doubt the best accommodation in Auckland - the executive and club rooms are quite lovely and the standards very good. The only negative was very slow service in the lobby bar but that's the first time I have encountered that so assuming it was just a bad day.

Barclay Suites

"Good priced city apartment for family or group"
The apartment suited our family group of 75 year old Grandmother, mum and dad and 18 year old son. It was centrally located but did feel the corridors to the rooms were very uninviting and the foyer was very small....could get quite cluttered if people were waiting to be checked in.

Amora Hotel Auckland - Auckland Hotels

Amora Hotel Auckland

100 Greys Ave Auckland Central, Auckland - Map
"Hotel close to the CBD but in a quiet street"
Very comfy room, nice bath, king bed, all round pretty good. However, the heat in the room overnight, it was just so hot, there was a portable air conditioner in the room which we did utilise but it was incredibly noisy and it really didn't cool the room down at all. Checking out on the Sunday morning was also a lot more hectic than anticipated, we were waiting in the line for about 20 minutes before we were served. You may want to use the parking located down the road at six dollars a day compared with the twenty dollars the Hotel charges.

The largest city in NZ, Auckland is the home of its tallest structure – Sky Tower – as well as most of the country’s other tallest buildings. The wide, sweeping Waitemata Harbour leads from Auckland to the sea and the Auckland Harbour Bridge connects the city with North Shore. Auckland is surrounded by about 48 volcanoes, so impressive natural sights are never far away. It’s attracted people from many different walks of life for over a century, and now has an amazingly diverse range of cultures, including the world’s largest Polynesian community.

Stay in the Auckland CBD and you can live the big city life with nature’s beauty still close by. To say Auckland has decent restaurants is an understatement – there are whole precincts you can choose from packed with delicious eats, from the waterfront and its harbour views to the funky local bars of High Street. When it’s time to shop, head to Queen Street to pick up some bargains, including local and international fashion labels, boutiques and whatever else takes your fancy. Auckland’s nightlife has everything from cool indie bars to cocktail lounges and hip-hop clubs, so a great night out is guaranteed!

Need some waking up? Coffee might do the trick, but you should feel pretty alive after doing the Skyjump, a heart-pumping base jump 192m from Sky Tower. If you love a good view but don’t want to plummet to earth, take the SkyWalk instead and explore the narrow rail around the tower while strapped into a harness. You’ll get an amazing look at the city, the harbour and beyond.

Auckland Museum is the place to be if you want to discover the city’s history. A stunning heritage-listed Greco-Roman building in Auckland’s 75-hectare park The Auckland Domain, it has an enormous collection of Maori artefacts. Animal lovers can check out Auckland Zoo, New Zealand’s biggest collection of exotic animals from around the world, while art fans shouldn’t miss the massive collection at Auckland Art Gallery.

When you need to get out of the city, venture to one of the nearby volcanoes like Rangatoto, or better yet, take a guided tour with a ferry across the harbour and a 4WD ride to the summit. With heaps of plant life and views of nearby ranges, this is one lush volcano.
