Northeast Tassie’s fertile soil has led to it being rich in farmland and fresh produce. But historically it was famous for something quite different: gold and tin. Prospector George Bell first discovered tin close to Mount Cameron in 1874, leading to a boom that drew scores of Chinese immigrants to the region.
