Central New South Wales has some of the state's most beautiful countryside and is home to an abundance of delicious food and wine, breath taking National Parks and historical sites.

Dubbo is widely known as the home of Taronga Western Plains Zoo, but the city also has many hidden treasure to offer.

Step back in time at the Old Dubbo Gaol or get in touch with your creative side at the Western Plains Cultural Centre. For something a little different go star gazing at the Dubbo Observatory or visit the Shoyoen Japanese Garden.

Alternatively spend a lazy afternoon exploring Dubbo's boutique wineries or enjoy a meal at one of the many restaurants and cafes located in the city.

If you're travelling to Dubbo by road, plan ahead and discover the surrounding region on the way.

Let your tastebuds explore the beauty of Orange with over 40 cool climate wineries and a large variety of fresh produce such as stone fruits and cheese to fungi and grapes. There is something to suit everyone's taste.

Take a break overnight in Mudgee. Famous for its wines, you can taste the region?s finest drop, or enjoy a delicious meal in this picturesque town.

As you near closer to Dubbo you might want to stop at something a little different like the CSIRO Telescope at Parkes also known as The Dish, or the Wellington Caves complex where you can see a huge stalagmite in the Cathedral Cave.
