When an entire city is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site you know it must be something special. Bath is exactly that, one of the most incredible cities in the world bursting at the seams with astonishing architecture and home to the renowned Roman Baths. Take advantage of our hotels in Bath to soak up the history and culture, literally and metaphorically! When the Romans arrived in Britain 2000 years ago they soon discovered the only natural hot springs in the land were located in Bath. In such a cold weather country what better way to make use of the thermal water than to create a bathhouse. To this day people have been enjoying the luxurious warmth of the baths but now the original location is a fascinating renovated museum. Tour the museum and imagine how the upper class Romans once lived and then enjoy the same waters for yourself at the Thermae Bath Spa. Take in a spectacular view of the city from the rooftop thermal pool and leave feeling totally and utterly relaxed. From our Bath hotels you don't have to walk far to find some of the famed architecture of the city. Almost every street contains something worth photographing but one of the best places to visit is the circular row of connected Georgian houses known as Circus. Located in the heart of town, Circus is the sort of place you would dream of living in. Nearby is the equally stunning Royal Crescent which is a similar semi circle of attached houses with a vast lawn out the front. Trying to fit the whole image on your camera might be tricky though. Pulteney Bridge is another incredible piece of Bath architecture which must be enjoyed. Outside of Bath are the geographically and historically important Cheddar Caves and Gorge. Ideal for a day trip from your Bath hotel, the caves provide an interesting insight into prehistoric Britain while the gorge offers inspiring views across the countryside. Image from redjar |
