Masjid Sultan Abu Bakar
is regarded as one of the finest in Malaysia. Its unique architectural design is of an Anglo- Islamic combination. Sultan Abu Bakar ordered the contruction of the mosque in 1892 which was completed in 1900. Its spacious hall can house 2000 Muslims worshippers. Standing on the hilltop shows tourists the sweeping view of the Johor Straits and the brightly lit downtown Johor Bharu at night.

The Grand Palace/Royal Abu Bakar Museum
It was commissioned by Sultan Abu Bakar. This magnificient building has a clear Anglo- Malay architectural style. Just 1.5km from the Causeway, the beautiful palace occupies an area of 133 ha. It is still a popular venue for celebration by the royal family or the state government. The palace in blue and white has long been a famed landmark of Johor Bharu.
The right wing of the Grand Palace has been converted into a museum Royal Abu Bakar museum. It displays treasure accumulated by the royal family including personal memorabilia, curios, objet d'art, and cultural artifacts. One should not missed this golden opportunity of having a closer look at the royal family.
The Johor Bharu zoo near the palace is a great place for family outing or picnics.
The Grand Palace is open daily from 10.00 hrs to 18.00 hrs except on Fri, Sat and Sun.

Dataran Bandaraya
was built to commemorate the age of Johor Bharu as a city on the 1st January 1994. An imposing clock tower mark the location of the Square. Having a wide stage with a spectacular fountain. Major events and celebration were held here. During the celebrations, tourists are drawn to a large number of stalls which are set up selling varieties of local specialties and eye catching handicrafts. People always have a fantastic time as they shop and enjoy interesting cultural shows simultaneously
