Local Attractions

In the immediate area are the Slave Lodge Cultural History Museum, the Dutch Company Gardens and Parliament complex, SA Natural History museum, SA Jewish Museum, the art collections of the SA National Gallery, the celebrated Fugard Theatre, City Hall and the ‘must-see’ Cape Town Castle. A short stroll takes the visitor to the curio-shopping mecca of Greenmarket Square, up picturesque Long Street or to the old Malay Quarter on the slopes of Signal Hill. A longer walk or drive towards the Bay arrives at the sprawling V&A Waterfront with its many waterside attractions, including the Two Oceans Aquarium and the departure point for a ferry trip to Robben Island, or a cruise around the Atlantic Seaboard, home of the 2010 Soccer World Cup’s Cape Town stadium. The principal city attraction is legendary Table Mountain, from whose heights visitors can view the entire Cape Peninsula, including the distant mountains of the Cape Winelands 45 minutes away, and the popular Two Oceans sightseeing route along the South Peninsula, which explores Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, the historic estates of Groot Constantia, the False Bay coastline, Chapman's Peak Drive and the fabled Cape Point – Africa’s south westernmost tip.
