Restaurants
Eight is a farm-to-table eating experience. Like its name, the restaurant is an expression of balance, cycles, harmony, infinity and abundance. The produce used at Eight is either grown on the farm or sourced from nearby farmers. Natural and organic ingredients are preferred and combined to create nourishing, healthy, and delicious food, which diners can enjoy in a beautiful setting along the banks of the Eerste River. Eight is the manifestation of our belief that a restaurant can be a catalyst for social and environmental change while still offering fabulous food.

The Spier Hotel has its own elegant restaurant offering a? la carte fine dining for guests. The hotel?s popular Wine Bar and Terrace offers sundowners, healthy light lunches and bar snacks. Both the hotel?s restaurant and wine bar strive to source the freshest available produce for its menus from a range of local suppliers. Subject to seasonal variations and availability, this may include organic fruit and vegetables, hand-picked herbs from its own gardens, as well as free range eggs. All fish served is graded as the most sustainable choices by the South African Sustainable Seafood Initiative.

For a lively evening with outdoor entertainment, moyo at Spier is a 650-seater restaurant that brings the taste of Africa to tree-top tables or stylish tents. At the Spier Deli, guests can enjoy light meals on the deck overlooking the dam and Helderberg Mountains, or scrumptious picnics on the lush lawns.

Wine tasting
Three tasting options are available at the wine tasting courtyard, including:
Spier Tasting: Taste two Private Collection wines and three Signature wines informally in the courtyard/lounge.
Barrel Thief Tasting: Step inside the barrel tasting cellar and steal wine straight from the barrel! It is the ideal option if you want to know a bit more about the winemaking process, and understand how wine changes from the barrel to the bottle. You are introduced to the top tiers of our ranges during this tasting.
Private Collection and Frans K Smit Tasting: relax in the Private Collection Lounge and be guided by one of Spier?s educators on a selection of your choice from our award-winning Private Collection Wines and our 5 star John Platter wine Frans K Smit.

Spier believes that the visual arts can provide both guests and staff with new insights, and challenge us to take a fresh look at our world and environment. Art is evocative and engages the senses, intellect, and, importantly the soul. Because of this, it is a powerful tool for transformation. Regular exhibitions are held in the Old Wine Cellar Gallery.

Spier?s gardens
The gardens are mostly indigenous and all plants are water-wise. The medium to long-term vision is to showcase the best of the Western Cape?s flora on a striking scale, and eminent landscape architect Patrick Watson is working with Spier to achieve this vision.
