The New Whyalla Hotel offers 14 rooms consisting of single, queen, family and two bedroom apartments. All rooms have reverse cycle air conditioning, fridge and ensuite. Complimentary breakfast is provided for all guests in their room each morning, with lunch and dinner offered seven days a week in our competitively priced Caffe Primo.

Every year between the months of May and August, thousands of Giant Australian Cuttlefish (Sepia apama) descend on the rocky coastline between Fitzgerald Bay and False Bay near Whyalla. ( Approx 17 km on the Port Augusta Road). Dive tours are available through several operators or you can snorkel to see the spectacular sight of these beautiful creatures. Have a relaxing drive along the coast of Fitzgerald Bay or Point Lowly and surrounding areas, picnic and parking areas are available as well as showers/public toilets a public BBQ.
Whyalla is a world famous fishing destination with catches of Snapper, Tommy Ruff, Garfish, Whiting and Squid can be had, especially on the rising tide. Popular blue swimmer crabs are often caught in the warmer months. Note that there is a total ban on the catching of Snapper in November each year, to try to preserve our native fish stocks. Whyalla Foreshore area is a popular area for families, to swim, picnic or fish, there are playground areas and beautiful gardens to stroll with an array of birds and wildlife. Adjacent to the Foreshore area is our Marina where you can view the dolphins from the shore or have a swim in our protected swimming area within the marina. Many Fishing Charters are available.
Take a mine tour at Iron Knob and view the fascinating structure of an Open Cut Mine. Tours available in your own vehicle but please book prior to arrival.
Wild Dog Hill Conservation Park - The Park is managed by the South Australian National Parks and Wildlife Service and covers an area of approximately 2,020 hectares.The area conserves a good example of the native flora and fauna of this semi-arid area. The main entrance to the Park is located on the Lincoln Highway, 10 km north of Whyalla, just south of the Port Bonython turn off. The park is open from half an hour before sunrise to half an hour after sunset, with free entry.
Onesteel Tours ? Onesteel (formerly BHP) is one of the towns major employment areas. Tours are available throughout the week through the Visitors Centre. Why not take a tour of the HMS Whyalla and the Whyalla Maritime Museum and finish with a tour of Onesteel Steel works.
