National Art Gallery
National Gallery, located on Merrion Square West, houses many important art exhibits and sculptures by Irish and European artists. Opened to the public in 1864, the National Gallery or Ireland is one of Dublin its treasures. Trinity College (Book of Kells)
Dating from the late sixteenth century, Trinty College Library is Irelands oldest. It contains over 1,000,000 volumes and Irelands most extensive collection of manuscripts and early printed books. It’s greatest treasure is the Book of Kells (probably eighth century). This is considered to be the most beautiful illuminated manuscript in existence today. The library is housed in two buildings – the Old Library (completed in 1732) and the New Library (1967). Trinty College Library has the right to a copy of any book printed in Ireland or Britain.
