Each of our cottages is private and fully self- contained. In addition to the bedrooms they have a fully quipped kitchen, dining room, lounge, bathroom, laundry, private verandas and antiques throughout. They also have gardens for you to relax in and enjoy. Feel free to use the produce from our vegetable and herb gardens. Full breakfast provisions are included.
Although the cottages are a century old they also have all the conveniences needed for modern living. This includes, free wifi, flat screen digital TVs, DVD player, air conditioning for heating and cooling.

Burnie, the town where the cottages are based, is an Art Deco town known as The City of Makers. While here you can take self guided tours of bead and print makers, painters, glass artists and jewellers. See paper made by hand and make some yourself using traditional methods. Sample cheeses and buy direct from our award wining cheese maker. This can all be done at The Makers Workshop (2 minute walk away) At Hellyers Road Distillery (five minute drive) you can learn the history and art of whisky making at Australia?s largest single malt whisky distillery, Our beautiful West Beach is at the end of our street (one minute walk) and there are opportunities to view fairy penguins living in their natural habitat. Burnie has outstanding gardens, urban walking trails art galleries and museums for you to experience and enjoy. The Emu Valley Rhododendron Garden (10 minute drive) has 13ha of rhododendrons and other beautiful plants. It has walking tracks and bridges along with a resident platypus, echidna and diverse birdlife.
The historic village of Stanley is just over an hours drive away while Cradle Mountain can be reached in 1hour 15 minutes. Dove Lake at Cradle Mountain can be circumnavigated in a couple of hours of easy walking.
The Duck House makes an ideal base for experiencing the attractions of Burnie and all the attractions of North West Tasmania.
