Thailand is home to an enormous array of great beaches and Kamala is yet another of those which the country can boast of, but this beach likes to try and keep a lower profile than most. We offer plenty of Kamala hotels within walking distance of the squeaky sand and sparsely populated shores which provide a truer experience of Phuket.

Kamala is located just north of the renowned Patong but it couldn't be more different as the area draws large numbers of Thai tourists and cuts out the sleazy nightlife Patong actively seeks. During the high season the beach is fantastic for swimming but between the months of May and October, swimming is joined by surfing as one of the most popular activities. On some days the waves can be pretty good to surf and are generally only recommended for surfers with some experience but on calmer days beginners are welcome to have a go. If surfing sounds a bit too energetic after waking up in your Kamala hotel, there are other ways to spend your day. Kamala Lawn Bowling Club offers lazy games of bowls for a more relaxed introduction to exercise or alternatively there is Kamala Friday Market which, of course, takes place every Friday. This is a fairly typical Thai market selling fresh produce to electronics and provides a nice way to use an afternoon.

With the influx of Thai tourists in Kamala naturally comes the demand for good quality Thai food and this can be found at many local restaurants close to our Kamala Beach hotels. The seafood in the area is deliciously fresh and getting a seat at a beachfront restaurant is worth it for the additional bonus of the view. Despite Kamala maintaining a reputation as a relatively quiet and peaceful beach it is in fact situated nearby to one of the biggest tourist attractions in the whole of Phuket. Phuket Fantasea Park is a festival of Thai culture with its centrepiece being an enormous show with elephants, acrobats, pyrotechnics and more. It is also flanked by an enormous dining hall serving up the most extravagant Thai buffet as well as a shopping village for those all important souvenirs.
