Our Silom hotels are ideal if you wish to stay outside the hustle and bustle of the busier Sukhumvit and Kao San areas but still remain within touching distance of them both. Silom is home to a number of well known Bangkok attractions while the BTS Sky Train and Chao Phraya river boats, which both pass through the area, allow you to travel further around the city with ease.
The Oriental Hotel is one of the most historic buildings in Bangkok and well worth a visit if you choose to stay in one of our hotels in Silom. Opened in 1879, the hotel was deemed a high enough standard to host visiting royalty and in recent years it has still maintained that reputation after accommodating the Prince of Wales and the Queen of Spain. The hotel has changed a lot since 1879 but the original building still exists and serves as a romantic setting for the reputed Oriental afternoon tea, a must for tea lovers. The Oriental is also home to a number of excellent restaurants, the most famous of which is their French restaurant Le Normandie which has graced many a Michelin starred chef since its inception.
If you are visiting Thailand for significantly cheaper and more authentic food, Chinatown is just a small distance from Silom. Arguably the greatest street food in Bangkok is sold here and if there are any more reasons needed to persuade you to visit, we can't think of them. Everything from delicious duck to sumptuous seafood can be found along the main road through Chinatown, Yaowarat, and we recommend turning up with an empty stomach.
One of the best known nightlife spots in Silom is Patpong which will be a short distance from your Silom hotel. The night market there sells a range of items which can all be bartered for and down the alleys lurk an array of suspicious bars which may require some discretion before entering.
