Tall Timbers Tasmania is a stunning and unique property, a true showcase for the local district set in a rural setting only a short walk to the town centre. It is a mecca for visitors and locals alike, sixteen local timbers are used in the foyer and warm panels are used on the walls of the reception area, huge open fire places fashioned of local stone giving a feeling of being welcome. The For North-West tip of Tasmania (Circular Head) has a large variety of attractions and recreation activities within the region. From the time you sail in on the TT Line or even fly into Devonport or Burnie you can follow “Tasmanian Great Nature Trail” which starts at Burnie and follows the coastline into the heart of Tasmania’s Tarkine Wilderness. During your trip down the coast into this great region you will be able to enjoy the natural beauty, see the wonderful sites, enjoy the recreational facilities in the natural forest environment and view the local wildlife.
Some of the must locations to visit whilst within the region are as follows booking of these attraction can be made at Tall Timbers Reception for the convenience of guests;


Dip Fall Forestry Reserve; See the falls via the viewing platform or walk down the steps to the bottom to enjoy the natural beauty, whilst here visit the ‘Big Tree’. This grandfather of the forest is a must or use the BBQ facilities in the heart of the rainforest you may be lucky and see a wallaby or some other wildlife.


Historical Township of Stanley; The Stanley Nut the icon within this region is a must do, visit "The Nut" reserve and ride the chairlift to the top of "The Nut" enabling you to take in the magnificent views of the region. Proceed to the township and visit Lyons Cottage, where Australian Prime Minister Joseph Lyons was born, wander around the area and enjoy the history and attractions or enjoy a peaceful walk along one of the beautiful beaches. Try your luck at fishing or enjoy a ‘Seal Watching Tour’, drive to the Greenhills and see one of the original old homesteads “Highfield House” built in 1832 for V.D.L. Governor. Stanley is one of those quaint historical townships that you could spend hours enjoying what it has to offer.

Arthur River / Marrawah Area; Travel to the far west of the area through some wonderful farm land and forest area, visit the “Dismal Swamp” attraction where you will see the last Blackwood Swamp within Tasmania. Visit the end of the world where you can see the rugged coastline of the Tasmanian West Coast. View the pristine wilderness by riding on board the Arthur River Cruise up to ‘Turks’ landing enjoying a BBQ. lunch and a stroll through some of the most beautiful virgin rainforest you will ever see. Whilst in this area visit Mt. Cameron and some of the aboriginal sites enabling you to take in how our Tasmanian ancestors lived or take a guided tour with one of the local identities.

Woolnorth Station ; Woolnorth station part of the original V.D.L. Company has tours operating daily viewing some of Tasmania’s great pastoral history with the oldest ‘Hereford’ herd in Australia. Sheep shearing is featured within the tour and a visit to the new modern Harcus River Dairy project that milks hundreds of cows daily.
Also whilst on tour you visit ‘Cape Grim Air Station’ the cleanest air in the world, this station monitors air and weather patterns.

Tarkine Wilderness; Whilst within this region you must take the time to visit the "Heart the Tarkine" and our natural wilderness by travelling to some of the magnificent reserves such as the Julius River, Lake Chisholm, Milkshakes and Wes Becker Falls. These wonderful reserves offer BBQ. facilities, bush walks as well as wildlife in places you can relax and enjoy. Four Wheel Drive tours are available to these areas which will ensure you experience all of the natural beauty.
