Snowy Waters Lodge
Snowy Waters Lodge
Situated amongst 5 acres of parklike grounds within the historic township of Raetihi, Snowy Waters Lodge offers affordable accommodation on the doorstep of Whanganui National Park and Tongariro National Park. The Lodge was originally built in 1941 to accommodate Nurses of the Waimarino Hospital. It closed in the early 1990's and reopened as Snowy Waters Lodge & Tours in 2006 following a major refurbishment. The quaint town of Raetihi was once New Zealand's timber mill capital and the Whanganui River, full of culture and history, was its main highway.

- A bit far from nightlife and though transport was available it was expensive for those on a budget

- Charming lodge with a great atmosphere
- Far enough away from the hustle of Ohakune, but close enough to get up the mountain early!
