Fishing trips can be organised on a variety of boats, on and off shore.
Trips to Fraser Island as well as Lady Elliot Island are a must see. Both islands are completely different, Fraser the more rugged and World Heritage listed for it's unique fauna and flora. Lady Elliot, at the start of the Great Barrier Reef, has the most amazing sea life and coral viewing from the glass bottom boat, snorkeling and scuba diving are also an exhilarating experience.
If you are lucky enough to be visiting our beautiful region between July and October the humpback whales put on a fantastic show with whale watching cruises available daily. Many believe Hervey Bay to be the best whale watching region in the world. Hervey Bay is within a 1 1/2 hour radius of several villages, including Woodgate Beach, home to many native Australian animals. Bundaberg is just as close, and famous for the Bundaberg Rum Distillery and Bert Hinkler Museum.
Dining out can range from fish and chips on the foreshore, pub grub to a la carte. Fresh local seafood can be bought from the co-op, along with a bottle of wine and enjoyed on the balcony of the Shelly Beach Motel.
