Freycinet Marine Oyster Farm - Don your waders and visit a working oyster farm located within an internationally significant wetland in this unique and educational experience. Wineglass Lookout Walk - The internationally renowned Freycinet National Park is a must see sight to behold during your stay at Saffire. Join one of our informative guides on a walk to the lookout over Wineglass Bay. Learn about the Peninsulas rich history and behold the infamous white sandy beach on this two hour walking adventure. The trip also offers an up-close opportunity to learn about the diverse flora and fauna within this magical part of Tasmania.
Wine and Vine adventures - Wine lovers will delight in this enjoyable and educational activity on offer. At the local Freycinet Winery you will learn the art of wine-making and indulge in some fine Tasmanian fare, and the obligatory wine tastings. The alluring atmosphere, friendly staff and beautiful vineyard setting, in addition to the samples, will leave you feeling warm inside.
Pelican Bay Canoeing and Bird-watching - Unwind and absorb the breathtaking beauty of the Great Swanport estuary on this canoeing adventure, situated at the mouth of the internationally significant Moulting Lagoon Wetland. Observe the flocks of pelicans that dwell along the coastline and gaze into the crystal clear waters teeming with marine life, while our professional guides unravel the mysteries of the Freycinet Peninsula.

Mountain Biking - Challenge yourself mountain biking along the fire-trails of Coles Bay Conservation Area. This fun activity offers an opportunity to observe Tasmanias endemic bird and plant species that reside on the Peninsula. Well equip you with a bike plus all the accessories needed for a comfortable and memorable self-guided adventure.
Kayaking - Paddle in the calm and tranquil waters of Muirs Beach wetland, located directly in front of Saffire. Sit-on top kayaks are available to paddle at your leisure behind the windswept sand dunes amongst coastal bushland. You will enjoy the paddle if you delight in bird watching, plant identifying or just being on the water (two double and two single kayaks available).
Fishing - Go fishing straight off the rocky shoreline in front of Saffire. Flathead, flounder, calamari squid and Australian salmon can be caught in Great Oyster Bay. Fishing rods and tackle are available to try your luck (four fishing rods are available).
Jogging - For joggers and walkers, choose between bushland or beach for your daily dose of endorphins. Well point you the right way.
Beach Games - Partake in beach activities on Muirs Beach, located directly in front of Saffire. We offer a large range of activities including volleyball, beach cricket, sand castle building, bocce, quoits and ultimate frisbee. Enjoy the sunshine and have playful contests on the beach. Our (guiding) team is eagerly available to join you.

Star gazing - Star gazers have the opportunity to be enchanted by the bewildering Freycinet night skies through our state-of-the-art telescope. We will point out some constellations, enlighten you with stories and show you the evenings highlights. End the evening with an insightful gaze at the heavens.
Hammocks -We have hammocks available to suspend in the private setting of your suite. We understand your desire to slow down and escape from routine. An ideal way to spend an afternoon is to lie back in a hammock, read a book and soak up the sunshine.
Board Games - Take pleasure in the picturesque backdrop of the Hazards either in the privacy of your suite or in the cosy warmth of the Saffire Lounge, whilst engaging in a game of Yahtzee, Scrabble, Cluedo, Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit or Chess (many other board games and Nintendo Wii console available).
The Ultimate Saffire Experiences
Saffire’s facilitated experiences are at an additional cost to our accommodation packages and offer one-hour to full-day dynamic expeditions throughout Freycinet National Park.
Schouten Island half day experience – Come aboard our Saffire vessel and enjoy an entrée-sized portion of the Schouten Island Signature Experience. Be engaged by close-up interactions with scouring sea birds, playful marine mammals and a diversity of life on Tasmania’s temperate reefs. The adventure also includes a visit to culturally significant sites of past and present inhabitants. Behold the beauty of the Freycinet Peninsula and discover Schouten Island on this memorable three-hour adventure. Morning tea is included and prepared by the team of chefs at Saffire.

Great Oyster Bay Blast – Buckle up for a fast-paced blast around Great Oyster Bay on board our Saffire vessel. The vessel is powered by three 350 horse power outboards and can cruise at speeds of up to 45 knots (80km per hour). This one-hour adventure will take you out and around the Bay to the mouth of Moulting Lagoon and Hazards Beach. Learn about Tasmania’s extreme weather conditions and the hazardous livelihoods of some of the Bay’s past and present inhabitants. Enjoy the blast! Bookings essential, cost $110 per person, minimum four people.
Friendly Beaches quad bike experience – Saffire invites adventure thrill-seekers on a quad bike tour along four-wheel drive tracks through coastal heath-land to southern Friendly Beaches, Freycinet National Park. Join our adventurous guides on an exciting and challenging half-day venture. Early bookings essential (Minimum ‘P’ license to be accepted and a maximum of three people on ATVs plus one passenger per day permitted,) cost $150 per person.
Schouten Island Signature Experience – The awe-inspiring beauty of the Freycinet Peninsula and Schouten Island is best experienced from the sea. A trip on board our impressive Saffire vessel allows a unique opportunity to view, upclose, the dramatic granite mountains of this ancient landscape. This full-day adventure offers a unique insight into the underwater world of temperate reefs, a chance to view sea birds scouring the Tasman Sea and an up-close encounter with some playful, resident Australian Fur Seals. This adventure includes a gourmet picnic lunch prepared by Saffire’s team of chefs and enjoyed on the white sands of Schouten Island. A short, adventurous walk on the island to discover its rich cultural heritage is also on offer. Behold the beauty, feel inspired and live the experience.

Offsite Experiences
Helicopter experiences can be tailored to each guest and can range from fly-fishing to playing a round of golf at the internationally renowned Barnbougle Dunes Golf Links.

Take in the spectacular views from the Hazards Mountains, walk the white-sanded shores of Wineglass Bay and indulge in Tasmania’s finest food and wine while looking across the turquoise waters of the Freycinet Peninsula.
Departing from Freycinet Lodge, this experience is open to all visitors to the region. Your highly trained guide leads a walk up to the Wineglass Bay lookout, with sweeping views of the Freycinet Peninsula and beyond. Then, make your way down to the pristine shores of Wineglass Bay beach.
Walking on across the peninsula you meet another stretch of sand and water at Hazards Beach. At the southern end of this beach, you will discover another secluded bay where a gourmet lunch of local seafood, beef, quail, and the East Coast’s finest wines and Tasmanian cheeses awaits.
The rest of the afternoon is yours to feast, wander the sandy shores, take a dip in the turquoise waters, or sit back and take in the area’s spectacular scenery before our launch, Baudin, collects guests for the half-hour cruise back to Freycinet Lodge.
