Port Huon Cottages

GEEVESTON: Only 5 minutes drive south from Port Huon Cottages is the main tourist town in the Valley. Here you will find the Forest and Heritage Centre, where you can purchase your Tahune Airwalk tickets – which is a further 25 minute drive west from Geeveston – also purchase your National Parks passes. Another must see attraction is Southern Forest Furniture and Gallery. Between Geeveston and Port Huon is the Kermandie Hotel where you can stop and enjoy a drink in their friendly bar or stay for lunch or dinner seven days a week.
DOVER: Only 30 minutes away to the south, has a small fishing fleet and a great country Pub. From here Hastings Caves are only 30 minutes further south also the settlement of Southport. Another 30 minutes south has you at Recherche Bay and Cockle Creek – as far as is possible to drive in Australia! While in the area don’t miss a ride on the Ida Bay Railway.
FRANKLIN: To our north and is only a 10 minute drive away with some great little restaurants including Huon’s Little Treasure Bistro, Petty Sessions and the Aqua Grill with the best fish and chips in Tasmania. While you are in Franklin also visit the Franklin Gallery Café and don’t miss the Wooden Boat School and Treasures Old & New.
HUONVILLE: Only 20 minutes north is the business centre of our Valley. Again some great restaurants including Home Hill, award winning winery and restaurant, at Ranelagh and the Huon Manor on the banks of the Huon River. Don’t miss a visit to the Apple and Heritage Museum at Grove, then call into Huon River Jet Boats for a great fun ride. Also here you will find a Visitor Information Centre and great little Café.
CYGNET: Only 40 minutes drive from Port Huon Cottages to our east, again a must see country town. Here you will find three great Pubs throughout the top, bottom and middle, all with great service. A lovely little town to wander around, stop in for coffee at The Red Velvet Lounge. Don’t miss two wonderful wineries, Hartzview Wine Centre at Gardners Bay and Panorama Vineyard at Cradoc.
