Ponsonby is the ideal base from which to explore Auckland. Hail a taxi on nearby Ponsonby Rd, and you’ll be in the city in five minutes. The Link bus runs every 15 minutes to the city, historic Parnell or the shopping precinct at Newmarket.
Walk up to Ponsonby Rd, - only a minute’s walk - and you can enjoy the variety of cafes and award-winning restaurants offering the very best of New Zealand produce and cuisine. Ask your hosts to recommend somewhere to suit your tastes or just wander along until you find something you fancy. On the way you’ll pass many boutiques and designer shops show-casing New Zealand design and fashion as well as all the essentials such as chemist, medical centre, delicatessen, newsagents and convenience stores.
You can also stroll along the back streets and discover the beauty and character of the true Aucklanders, the wooden villas and bungalows, unique to Auckland, built in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century’s.
