MUST SEE/DO
HINTA HINYAI (Grandfather and Grandmother Rocks)
Located only 200 metres from the resort, this natural rock formation is certainly one of the most photographed place of interest on the island. The rock formations represent the male and female genital organs. Their formation and appearance were made famous by a local tale of the bodies of an old couple that ran aground in the bay after their boat sunk thus creating these unique rock shapes.
Souvenir shops and bars are also dotted along the street.
BUTTERFLY GARDEN
Observe many butterfly species in the wild spreading themselves in a tropical natural environment. The observers can witness the cycle of multiplication of some species.
CROCODILE FARM
There are 2 crocodile farms on the island, one is located behind the airport where you will find more than 100 animal species such as Siam and sea water crocodiles, caymans, snakes, lizards, apes and many more. The second one is situated in the south of the island, at Namuang Waterfall II and also not to be missed.
LAMAI CENTRE
Approximately 1.5 km from the resort, free shuttle service drop off is offered 3 times a day. Shopping, nightlife and restaurants are in abundance.
WAT PHRA YAI (BIG BUDDHA)
Certainly the most known temple of Samui, you will not be able to leave the island without having visited the Wat Phra Yai Temple, in other words Big Buddha.
WAT KHUNARAM - MUMMIFIED MONK
The body of the most famous mummified monk of Samui is exposed here in this temple, Wat Khunaram. Dead on May 7th, 1977, by reaching Nirvana and sat in a meditative position, the body stayed there so far and almost without any sign of decomposition.
MAGIC BUDDHA GARDEN
The "Magic Garden" or "Secret Buddha Garden" is located in the hills. A Samuian fruit farmer started to build the garden in 1976 when he was 77 years old.
To get there is a bit difficult so the only way to get there is through the jungle, rivers and mountains by a four-wheel-drive jeep. The journey takes about 2 hours and is only recommended for experienced "outdoor" drivers.
Another way to get to the garden is by joining one of the safari tours.
It's quite worth a visit and on the way you can make a stop-over at Samui's highest point overlooking the island from north to south, the surrounding islands as well as the mainland.
ELEPHANT TREKKING
If you like admiring nature undisturbed by the noise of an engine, why not make a trek on the back of an elephant! These activities are practised from the waterfalls of Namuang I and II.
NA-MUANG WATERFALL
Located 10 km south from Nathon, there are 2 waterfalls. Na Muang 1 is 18 meter high and can be reached by vehicle.
Na Muang 2 is about 80 meters high and can only be reached by a 30 minute walk. The waterfalls are the most scenic on the island.
