MAYDENA COUNTRY CABINS - ROYDON ALPACA STUD was the PEOPLE'S CHOICE WINNER JULY to SEPTEMBER 2009 for very good reasons. Our ROSE cabin is AAA rated 4 Stars and is ideal for a couple. The LAVENDER cabin is 3? Stars and offers family accommodation with two bedrooms. The in-house B&B provides 4 Star accommodation for a couple. Our property is nestled in a very unique part of the Derwent Valley, situated in the alpine region of the Tyenna Valley at Maydena and offers outstanding service and accommodation to all visitors.

Maydena is ideally situated as the base for exploring some of the most beautiful scenery and wilderness experiences that Tasmania has to offer. Our property has outstanding views of the mountains, the forests, the Tyenna valley and beyond. Some of the treasures waiting in our area for you to explore are listed here:
Mt Field National Park...this park is world renowned and offers the beautiful Russell Falls, fantastic walks and rugged mountain scenery, The Glow Worm walk at night is a special treat and you will see native animals and birds aplenty.
Styx Valley and the Giant Trees...the tallest flowering hardwood trees in the world still exist in this valley.
The Junee Cave....where the pristine water comes after many kilometres of caves and underground waterways.
The Tyenna River and Tyenna Valley...stunningly beautiful and accessible. Good trout fishing.
The South West Wilderness area....many treasures
Lake Pedder....this vast lake is rich in history and is magnificent to see. The Southern point of the lake provides views to the glacial valley of the Huon River.
The Gordon Dam...is awesome!
Mt Anne and Mt Eliza....the tallest mountain in our area and a favourite with walkers and climbers.
Scotts Peak Dam....the most Southern part of Lake Pedder and offers outstanding views of the rugged mountain ranges nearby.
In Maydena:
The Railtrack Rider...a very popular activity that utilises the rail track and takes you into the forest with your own "pedal power".

Not only is the Maydena area beautiful but the journey to get here is also beautiful and full of surprises. The Derwent Valley is gorgeous and different in all seasons....coming from Hobart, you will follow the meandering Derwent River, you will cross the Styx River and when you reach the Tyenna Valley, you will follow the Tyennna River until you reach Maydena.
