Just opposite the Guesthouse there is the impressive Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, one of the most important churches and a must-see when in Rome. Just a short walk away is one of Rome's most famous landmarks, the Colosseum, as well as the sprawling ruins of the Roman Forum.
The area has locally known as Rione Monti and is characterised by its small, winding lanes and typical mediaeval squares.
