Kinloch Lodge an authors pick in the 2008 Lonely Planet is perfectly situated on the lakefront between the Routeburn and Greenstone tracks. Built in 1868 the lodge is probably the oldest operating guesthouse in New Zealand.
The Heritage lodge has 6 bedrooms. The 2 Queen rooms on the front overlook the lake and have Queen size beds. There are 4 double rooms on the side of the lodge. Rooms do not have en-suite facilities, though the bathrooms have huge cast iron claw foot baths and separate showers.
