Ubud, located in central Bali, is a cultural and arts centre surrounded by lush forest and sprawling rice fields. A stay in our Ubud accommodation is a far different experience from the bustling tourist hub of Bali’s better known destinations like Kuta, but it is definitely one worth having when visiting Bali.
At first glance outside your hotel in Ubud, it may appear as one small town, but the area is comprised of some 14 separate villages for you to explore. All of which are littered with artist’s workshops, galleries and local craftsmen displaying their wares. Staying in our Ubud hotels Bali is the perfect way to immerse yourself in the culture of this tranquil region of the island.
From your Ubud hotel journey outside of the town and delve in to the surrounding forest, here you will find temples, rice-paddy terraced hills, and spectacular Balinese relics. The Goa Gajah or Elephant Cave is a popular first stop as it is just 3km outside Ubud. The Elephant Cave features the ornately carved demons mouth, which is the entrance to the cave, as well as stone statues standing guard over the pools that lie in the courtyard.
The Monkey Forest can also be found in the neighbouring forest during a stay in one of our Ubud hotels. The forest is filled with monkeys, as the name suggests, but don’t take food with you, they can be ravenous at times. A wander through the forest will bring you to yet another temple, Pura Dalem Agung Padangtegal, a Balinese temple of the dead.
