Ios belongs to the Cyclades. Renowned for its lively nightlife, which focuses on Mylopotas and the port of Ormos. The island is well developed and has attractions to offer and many quiet and peaceful places for visitors. The sandy beaches surrounding the island and the crystal waters of the emerald color, is a real temptation. The town of Ios is an adorable place. The nightlife is mostly located in Chora and the port while the rest of the island is very quiet.
Beaches: All beaches are sandy and wide, some of them are organized but all offer unforgettable experiences: at Yialos and Maganari were filmed the underwater scenes of the movie "Big Blue", St. Theodoti the Psathi the Koumbara, Kalamos, Pikri Nero, To avlaki tou Papa, the Klema and Sapounohoma. The last 4 are accessible only by a boat.
Psathi
On the way to the St. Theodoti will encounter two beaches that belong to Psathi. It is very popular among lovers of windsurfing because of the winds that blow there, so it is suitable for this sport.
Archaeological sites
There are three museums to visit: in Plaka, the Archaeological, Folklore in Adamas and Triovasalo. You can also visit the ruins of a medieval castle, erected in 1937. The tomb of Homer, epic poet of ancient Greece, situated in the north of the island, in Plakoto, where there are many tombs of the Hellenistic period. You can also visit Skarkos everyday except Mondays, an ancient settlement from 3.500 B.C.
