• MASJID ZAHIR
Officially opened in1912, this mosque is an architectural landmark, with black domes set off against slender minarets. The Masjid Zahir is one of the most elegant & aesthetically pleasing mosques in Malaysia. The State’s Quran reading competition is Held annually within the premises of mosque.




• ALOR SETAR TOWER
Located in the heart of Alor Setar, this tower standing at 165.5 metres tall is a prominent & modern landmark that signifies the rapid development in state of Kedah. It functions as both a telecommunications tower & a tourist attraction. The tower is a rotating restaurant named Restaurant Sri Angkasa.

• PADDY MUSEUM
This museum is a must see attraction in Kedah for its 360 degree circular mural or wall art painting. It is amazing painting by 60 artists from North Korea at the cost of RM 11 million. The purpose of the museum which is fourth paddy museum in the world is to showcase the paddy cultivation process in Malaysia and displays all kinds of tools and equipment which have been used in the trade over the years. The museum was officially opened by the Sultan of Kedah on 12th October 2004. The building is in “gemai padi” shape which is alike a bundle of paddy stalks. Main building houses the mural with another six secondary buildings surrounding it. Its total built-up area is 12,000 square meters.

• MAHATIR’S BIRTHPLACE
Malaysia's 4th Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was born on July 10, 1925 at the house near an ice factory in Kampung Seberang Perak and this historical place still stands today as part of the heritage of this city.

• NOBAT GALLERY
This 3-tiered octagonal tower was built to keep all the royal musical instruments including the serunai (wooden flute), nafiri, gendang (drum) and gong, which are known as nobat... This 9-piece musical set encompasses three drums, a gong, two flutes, two instruments called the cheng-cheng, and a trumpet-like instrument called the nafiri which produces the haunting strains of nobat music.
Right now, there are only a handful of these orchestras left in the country... This tower, however, is closed to the public... In order to view the nobat, visitors must obtain permission from the State Secretariat.

• KEDAH STATE MUSEUM
The State Museum (Muzium di Raja) is another fine example of local architecture hinting strongly of Thai influences in its majestic design. Built in 1936, it houses a collection of Kedah's royal and cultural heritage.
Open: Daily 1000 to 1800 hrs. Fri. 0930 to 1200 hrs. 1400 to 1800 hrs. Closed on Hari Raya Puasa and Hari Raya Haji.

• ROYAL HALL

Balai Besar (Royal Hall) is located along Jalan Pekan Melayu in the heart of Alor Setar, the state capital of Kedah, Malaysia. It is one of the heritage and charm of Kedah state, where its original structure was built in 1735 by Sultan Muhammad Jiwa Zainal Abidin Muazzam Syah (1710 - 1787), the founder of Alor Setar, who was also the 19th ruler of the Kedah Sultanate, as the Balai Rong Seri, or Grand Audience Hall

• THE BIG CLOCK TOWER
The Big Clock Tower (Bangunan Jam Besar) of Alor Setar in Kedah is located along Jalan Pekan Melayu and across the road is Balai Nobat. The historic clock tower was built in 1912 with an architectural design of two elements that portrayed both Islamic and Hindu aspects. It is a blend influence of the Islam religion and past Hinduism.


• GALLERY SULTAN ABDUL HALIM
Galleria Sultan Abdul Halim is located at the junction of Jalan Putera, adjacent to the Balai Nobat in the heart of Alor Setar's city, the state capital of Kedah, Malaysia. It was the previous Alor Setar High Court Complex which was transferred to the new High Court building at Jalan Suka Menanti. The architectural design of the building is in Classical Rome style, where it can be seen clearly from the pillars that built close to each other. Its walls are ornatedly carved and at the middle top section of the roof bear the emblem of the state of Kedah.

• GOLDEN JUBILEE PARK
The Golden Jubilee Park (Taman Jubli Emas) is located in Jalan Suka Menanti, near to the new High Court Complex in Alor Setar, Kedah. It was built to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the reign of the 27th ruler of Kedah, Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah and was official opened by His Highness Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah on Tuesday, the 9th of September, 2008.
The Golden Jubilee monument standing at a height of 20 meters has five "keris" (daggers) sculptures that signifies Tuanku Abdul Halim’s 50-year reign. In addition, there are also a total number of 28 engraved stones exhibit in the park to represent the history of the Kedah’s 28th rulers.


• GUNUNG KERIANG
The Gunung Keriang Recreation Park, Kedah is located just 12 kilometers from the city of Alor Setar and is one of the major tourist attractions in Kedah.
The Gunung Keriang Recreation Park, Kedah is a small park, which is known for its limestone rocks and caves. The Gua Keriang is one of the most popular and famous caves found in this park. Gunung Keriang or Mount Keriang is an elephant shaped mountain located amidst flat paddy field of the state of Kedah. The park is a good place to go for rock climbing and trekking. Cave exploration is another major activity that one can embark upon in this fantastic nature park. The mountain serves as a perfect spot for camping. Visitors come here for trekking and rock climbing in order to get a good view of the mountain summit.
