- Related options
Mahsuri’s Mausoleum - This shrine is made from white marble and is surrounded by padi fields. It was erected in honour of a legendary 19th-century maiden who was unjustly accused of adultery. This attraction can also be enjoyed as part of the Langkawi Island tour.
Craft Cultural Complex - Here, you will find a wide range of Malaysian handicrafts, including delicate, hand-drawn batik and intricately carved silverware. There are two museums within the grounds: the Heritage Museum, which displays historical and cultural artifacts that capture the rich diversity of the Langkawi people, legends and lore, and the Wedding Museum, which showcases traditional Malay wedding paraphernalia, costumes and accessories.
Gunung Raya Mountain - At 881 metres (2,890 feet), Gunung Raya is the tallest mountain in Langkawi. A trek from Lubuk Sembilang through the jungle – habitat of the regal hornbill – to its peak offers magnificent views of the islands of southern Thailand, Mat Cincang Mountain and Kuah Harbour.
Galeria Perdana - The gallery houses an impressive collection of over 2,500 state gifts and awards presented to the former prime minister of Malaysia and his wife. Exhibits include fine artwork, crystalware and objects of wood, leather, silver, copper, pewter, ceramic and glass.
Island of the Pregnant Maiden - A 25-minute car ride from the Resort and a 30-minute boat ride from Kuah Jetty takes you to Pulau Dayang Bunting (the Island of the Pregnant Maiden), the archipelago’s second largest island. The island resembles a woman lying on her back, and its name stems from a legend that says the water of its lake promotes fertility in women who drink or swim in it. This attraction can also be enjoyed as part of the island boat cruise.
Underwater World Langkawi - Off the coast of Pantai Cenang village is Underwater World Langkawi, a marine showcase that features more than 5,000 types of marine life, both freshwater and saltwater plants and animals. One of the aquarium’s highlights is a giant tank housing large species such as sharks, stingrays, groupers and green turtles. Visitors may actually walk through the tank along a 15-metre (49-foot) glass tunnel.
Cable car ride - At the end of Burau Bay, a cable car takes visitors high above the treetops to the summit of Gunung Mat Cincang for a panoramic view of Langkawi, neighbouring Kedah Province and far beyond, to southern Thailand. The mountain also offers hiking trails through the Gunung Mat Cincang Forest Reserve.
