Toowong Village Shopping Centre with direct access to the Toowong Railway Station is nearby. It has a good range of shops including David Jones and KMart, food court and service facilities i.e. Banks, Post Office, supermarkets etc.
A shopping centre in Milton Road has butcher, baker, grocer and newsagent. Both of the above are within walking distance from Fairthorpe.

Indooroopilly Shoppingtown is a large shopping mall with department stores, theatres, specialty shops etc.

Riverside Markets, open Sundays from 9.00am to 3.00pm, feature first class arts and crafts. They are located at the Riverside Centre, Eagle Street off Creek Street in the CBD or South Bank. They also include a variety of unusual food stalls and delightful entertainment from streetside performers.

The Brisbane River Cycle and Walk Track begin at Alice Street in the city Botanic Gardens through to the University of Queensland (passing by Fairthorpe).

City Botanical Gardens at the end of Albert and George Streets are a pleasant place to enjoy a picnic or a meal in the Gardens Café.

Mt Cootha Botanic Gardens, which include a planetarium, summit restaurant and café is a 5 minute drive away from here and well worth the trip, either for the view over the city, wonderful by day, dramatic by night or a wander around the beautiful gardens.

For the children, a trip to the South Bank beaches is a must. BBQ areas, swimming and playing, all within the sight of the CBD. Take a ferry ride across the river at North Quay to the South Bank and relax on the beach! The South Bank is also the home of the Brisbane Arts Centre and the Museum.

A trip into Brisbane city, for sights, casino, shops, restaurants, and many more features of Brisbane is easily done by public transport, either by buses passing along Coronation Drive every few minutes or the city trains from Auchenflower Railway Station or we can organize car hire for you if you wish. Want to travel further? The Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast with their many attractions are easily accessible by public transport, train or bus. Timetables are available from the Tourist Information Kiosk in Queen Street. The beautiful Glass House Mountains are just over an hour away.
