The apartment is located around the corner from beautiful Williamsburg bridge which you can take to walk over to Brooklyn.
As you walk up on Avenue A you will also see beautiful Tompkins Square Park - the heart of the East Village with its playgrounds and basketball courts, handball courts and built-in outdoor chess tables.
There is a popular free outdoor French film festival which shows critically acclaimed French films each Friday at sunset in city parks including Tompkins during June and July.
You have unlimited food choices in this area if you like to dine out or the chance to stay in and cook since you also have a wide variety of grocery stores.
St Marks Place is a very vibrant and dynamic street. A lot of famous singers and bands played in the bars on this street when they were just starting out. There is also the unique Museum of the American Gangster located on 8th Street between 1st and 2nd Street. There are many laundromats around the apartment: the self-service ones are located on 1st Avenue between 12th and 13th Street as well as between 8th and 9th Streets.
If you need to withdraw some cash or exchange foreign currency, you can go the Chase bank on 2nd Avenue and 8th Street.
