Bird Watchers Paradise
The Daintree Rainforest contains 430 species of birds (over half the bird population of Australia). Daintree Eco Lodge & Spa is renowned locally as the "Jewel of the Rainforest" for birdwatching. 135 species have been recorded in the boundaries of Daintree Eco Lodge & Spa (that's one eighth of Australia's total species!)? we invite you to add any new sightings. The region is a birdwatchers paradise.
The Daintree Valley contains 225 recorded species. On an early morning birdwatching
cruise on the Daintree River, view up to 50 species of birds in a single cruise
including the rare Pacific Swallow, Great Billed Heron, Black Bittern, Little Tern and
Beach Stone Curlew. Half and full day birdwatching safaris throughout the Daintree and adjacent regions.
Fishing Haven
Daintree Eco Lodge & Spa is the only resort adjacent to the majestic Daintree River. In the river itself, 200 species of fish and 70 species of crustaceans have been recorded, including the legendary Barramundi. The Lodge is only minutes drive from pristine coral sand beaches and within
easy access to the Reef for personalised fishing excursions. Popular activities are Fly and Barramundi Fishing trips - either "one on one" or small group experiences - half day or full day. Deep Sea and Reef fishing is easily arranged with selected operators. At the end of the day our hefs
