We offer three types of accommodation; Self contained historic cottages, Bed and Breakfast Accommodation and the Garden Retreat which is a non catering suite. ALL our accommodation is located within the historic precinct of the famous convict village of Ross. Take a journey into a romantic past, stay in an ex convict’s barracks, perhaps an old Sunday School, or maybe a Sandstone Georgian cottage. Enjoy a nice red while sitting in the English garden on an old stone seat or park bench. There are plenty of songbirds to help you unwind.

Ross, with its majestic avenues of elm trees presents to the visitor an atmosphere of old-world charm serenity and beauty unique in these days of speed and commercialism. A popular pastime in this English style village is simply strolling the streets absorbing its atmosphere and history. Soak up the serenity of a close friendly community; delight in the wonderful variety of our convict built sandstone homes. Visitors love the relaxed atmosphere of street dining at our cafes and bakeries. Hidden in the historic streetscape are shops with antiques, local made sculptures, crafts, gifts, wool products, souvenirs and artwork. Many anglers have kissed trout in the world-renowned Macquarie River, which flows under the Ross Bridge. An icon of Tasmania, the bridge was built by convicts in 1836 and has 186 carvings adorning the arches making it perhaps the most decorative bridge of its type in the world. Take time to visit the "Female Factory”, the convict female prison (1840’s-1850’s). The restored Overseer's cottage is open to the public. To really appreciate Ross is to stay in the village.
Settled in 1821, Ross is only 50 minutes drive from Launceston or from the East Coast, and 90 minutes from Hobart.
