At the mouth of the mighty Wanganui River, Wanganui is the base to sample the variety of leisure opportunities afforded by this great River. These range from trips on the Historic Paddle Steamer Waimarie or the M.V. Wakapai to many jetboat or canoe tours offered. Historic Wanganui also boasts many parks, lakes, beaches and golf courses.
