Bicheno?s A+ Apartments make an ideal base from which to explore the wonders of Tasmania?s East Coast, with easy access to both the Freycinet and Douglas Apsley National Parks.
Wonder at the spectacular view of Wineglass Bay from the lookout at the end of a forty minute easy climb from the car park. Or for the more adventurous, you may choose to continue to find the white sands and crystal blue waters of Wineglass bay itself, after which you have the choice of either returning by the same route or continuing to complete the circuit which includes the delightful Hazards Beach.
For the less mobile there is the Cape Tourville Lighthouse walk a short wheel chair standard walk that features a boardwalk section that is on the very edge of the cliff.
On the other hand the Douglas Apsley National Park located seven kilometres north of Bicheno provides a more rugged walking experience with a two hour walk to the Apsley River Gorge and in the summer time you may like to stop for a swim in the waterhole.
For the less adventurous there are a number of long white sandy beaches along which to wander and be enthralled.
East coast Natureworld is an ideal place to learn and observe the local wildlife including the endangered Tasmanian Devil. Bicheno Penguin Tours provide a nightly penguin tour where visitors can observe at close quarters the delightful fairy penguins as they return from the day feeding at sea.
Bicheno is also an ideal base from which to explore the East Coast and Fingal Valley Forests with a number of spectacular waterfalls along with the iconic tall eucalypt trees at the Evercreech Forest Reserve.
For families, in the heart of Bicheno (five minutes walk from our apartments) is the Waubs Bay beach which is very safe beach for young children to either play in the sand or to swim and play in the shallow waters.
A foreshore walkway meanders around the coastline of the township where once the whalers and sealers plied their gruesome trade, however these days we can enjoy the beauty of this granite coastline. A short walk from just off the town centre will take the visitor to Whalers Lookout where there are now two elevated lookout platforms. The keen observer may even be able to locate the tree that supported original lookout.
