A vast range of things to do, race day at the racecourse which is within walking distance. Jet boating and canoeing on the river, or if a more sedate form of transport is preferred try out the paddle steamer the "Waimarie" which has daily sailings at 2pm during the summer season. We are handy to 3 golf courses, within walking distance to the hockey turf, 2 minutes drive to Springvale Stadium and the Splash centre which is very popular with children. There is the Sarjeants Gallery and Wanganui Museum, glass works, a lovely main street full of really nice shops to browse. Kowhai Park and Virginia Lake are 2 more favourites with children. Saturday's riverside market is always a busy place to be, lots of locally grown produce and a large variety of stall holders. Many fine cafes, restaurants and pubs to choose from to suit all tastes and pockets. The Memorial Tower and Durie Hill Elevator are both must see places while you are in Wanganui.
