Aquatic Vista Bribie Island is a new self rated 4 star complex. Our apartments are fully self-contained and we have on-site management. Located less than one hour north of Brisbane, we are on the sheltered side of Bribie Island on the Pumicestone Passage, situated at Bongaree which outlooks back towards the coast from Redcliffe Peninsula at the south to the Glass House Mountains at the north. Driving over the bridge to Bribie Island you feel as though you really are on holiday.

ARTS & CRAFTS: The Bribie Island Community Arts Centre is home to both our local professional and budding amateur artists and crafts persons.

Comprising of the Matthew Flinders Gallery which hosts amazing regional and local exhibitions, four galleries displaying local works - paintings, pottery, woodcrafts, jewellery, paper crafts and many other hand made delights crafted within the workshops that are part of this important complex.

Manned by volunteers, this fantastic centre welcomes visitors Tuesday - Sunday (10am - 4pm) and hosts an arts and crafts fair on the last Sunday of every month.

Boab Bribie Island currently only have the 6m centre cab for hire - the 5.3m KIMBERLEY they will have by Christmas. The centre cab is 2C surveyed to carry 7 passengers in offshore waters. Its operational limit is 15Nm from land or partially smooth waters putting it in range of fishing hotspots like Cape Moreton, Caloundra Wide, the Caloundra, 12mile, the 50m line, Chardons Reef, North Reef plus numerous wrecks in and around Moreton Island and the Sunny coast.

All you need is a valid and current boat license.

Fishing and BBQ boat hire from Bribie Island Boat Charters at Spinnaker Sound Marina. They also stock bait and fishing gear for your fishing trip and have all the local knowledge to help point you in the right direction to catch 'the big one'.

CRUISE THE PUMICESTONE PASSAGE: Cruise up the Pumicestone Passage aboard the Ferryman Cruises through the estuarine marine park wilderness. You may also be joined by dugong, dolphin and turtles during your cruise - an experience not to be missed.

GLIDING: Gliding over the majestic Glass House Mountains, Moreton Bay, Bribie Island and Moreton Island in a motorised glider is a holiday 'must do'. Come Gliding leave from Caboolture Airfield just 20 mins from Bribie Island and have flight options to suit all budgets.

HERITAGE WALK: Bribie Island Rotary Club and Local Historians have detailed an easy "Bongaree Walkabout" walk guided by a colourful and very interesting brochure and map available from information centres and local outlets.

The walk takes the visitor around the many historical sites still dotted around the historical heart of Bribie Island which is documented to be the "Cradle site of Queensland".

LAWN BOWLS: There are 3 great clubs which welcome social players and their guests - Bribie Island Bowls Club, Bribie Sports Club and Solander Lakes Bowls Club.

MARKETS: Local Markets are held regularly most weekends.

First Sunday of the month - Car Park Market at First Ave car park Bongaree opposite the jetty at Bongaree

Second Sunday of the month - Rotary Market at Brennan Park, Bongaree

Third Sunday of the month - Church of Christ Market at the church grounds Foley St, Bongaree

Fourth Sunday of the month - Arts and Crafts Fair at the Community Arts Centre, Sunderland Drive

PARASAILING: Fly high and dry above the Pumicestone Passage to experience the ultimate thrill of flying like a bird. The views span the ocean and Moreton Bay right up to the Glass House Mountains.

FISHING & 4WD

Bribie Island is a fisherman's paradise.

When you plan your fishing trip to Bribie Island you will see that we have a large boat ramp just before the island at Sandstone Point as well as ramps on the island at Bellara and at Bongaree. Please check out the bait available at Gateway Bait and Tackle at Ningi just before you arrive at the ramps.

Bribie Island has calm water fishing in the Pumicestone Passage and creeks, where you will find Whiting, Bream and Flathead.

The Passage is also a great place to catch Sand and Mud Crabs especially up the creeks which feed into the Passage.

If conditions are right you could also catch a Spotted Mackerel, Tailor or Jew from the jetty at Bongaree.

Surf fishing along the beach at Woorim attracts the avid fisherman.

Bribie Island is also the closest stepping stone to Moreton Island. The renowned world class fishing area for Tuna, Kingfish, Snapper.

4WD INFORMATION FOR BRIBIE ISLAND

Bribie Island Recreation Area - which includes Bribie Island National Park, the beach area to the low water mark and other lands owned by the State Government and the local Council.
The area is managed through Queensland Parks and Wildlife for the purposes of nature based recreation and nature conservation.

ACCESS: Permits are required to access the area and you will need a registered 4WD vehicle, a current drivers licence and a Vehicle Service Permit which can be obtained from:

Bribie Emporium, Jacana Ave, Woorim open 8.30am - 4.30pm daily.

New zoning plan for Moreton Bay Marine Park

On 1 March 2009 the Queensland Government will introduce (introduced) the new Moreton Bay Marine Park zoning plan.

The new plan expands the marine national park green zones to cover 16 percent of the park while achieving a balance between environment, economy and lifestyle?protecting more marine habitat in the bay and continuing to provide for all the activities people enjoy.
