Take your time and enjoy an interesting 3.5 hour drive by car from Auckland, taking in the broad Hauraki Plains to Thames. Here is the best time for purchasing your food and drink supplies. Enjoy the picturesque Thames Coast road journey to Coromandel Town and from there you drive north to Colville, which has an old style general store for any last minute items. Three kilometres north of Colville you turn right and take the Port Charles Rd, then 20 mins on gravel road through the remote bush and farmland of the upper Coromandel Peninsula, brings you to Tangiaro Kiwi Retreat. Your lodge, which will be unlocked, will have your name printed on the sign which is by the front entrance, please go in and enjoy! |

| Things To Do |
There are short walks on the property to points of interest. A popular summertime walk up the Tangiaro Stream and bathing in the large natural waterhole is a must! There are a variety of beaches nearby, from the safe and sheltered Little Sandy and Big Sandy Bays, to Stony Bay and Fletchers Bay in the north. The Department of Conservation manages and maintains many walking tracks on the Coromandel Peninsula. The popular Coromandel Walkway (3 hours one way) links Stoney Bay to Fletchers Bay. Also when open, you can climb Mount Moehau (890m). Rock fishing is another popular pastime for the enthusiast. Horse trekking is also available at Colville. Coromandel Town (1 Hr drive) has many tourist cafes and points of interest to visit. |
