In an extensive private nature reserve just 50 minutes drive south of Hobart. Accommodation includes self-contained Studio and two bedroom cabins, tipees and campground Vistas of old apple orchards and pasture give way to swaths of protected native forest. Glimpses of deep gullies and wild mountain landscapes flash past as the sun shoots through the trees. This is the Mount Misery Habitat Reserve, a large private nature reserve in the hills of the Huon Valley. At its heart is Huon Bush Retreats. Situated in the spectacular Huon Valley just 50km from Hobart Huon Bush Retreats is a true retreat. Your privacy is guaranteed by over 3km of winding gravel road. Drive slowly as you ascend the road into this very-private hideaway. Pademelons, possums, quolls and even the giant Wedge Tailed Eagle, are known to frequent the road. In fact, nature is all around you: from the towering old-growth forests, moss-clad rainforest streams and abundant bird life, to the stunning panorama of radiant wattle blossom in spring. Try an invigorating bushwalk through giant majestic eucalyptus regnans, the largest flowering trees on earth or contemplate the gentle pace of existence by a hidden waterfall. |

Business FacilitiesWe are a retreat from the hassles of modern life. As such, we have limited business facilities. Electricity at Huon Bush Retreats is 12 volt solar. We are not connected to the 240 volt electricity grid. Small appliances such as computers can usually be charged from the 240 volt system at reception. There is no television. Telstra CDMA and digital mobile phones work at most locations. |

By car: From Hobart take the A6 to the Huon Valley, 5km before Huonville take the C619 (right turn) follow Huon Bush Retreats blue and yellow signs. PLEASE NOTE: BROWNS ROAD IS UNSEALED. NARROW GRAVEL ROAD, STEEP IN PLACES, MAY NOT SUIT SOME SMOOTH TYRED FRONT WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLES. WILDLIFE IS ABUNDANT. PLEASE USE CAUTION. We recommend that you arrive in daylight unless you are used to navigating in remote areas. |

Activities @ Huon Bush Retreats Bushwalking We have a 5km network of walks ranging from 5 minute wheelchair (assisted) accessible to 4 hour mountain hike. Labyrinth Walk (opening soon)-Sooth your soul and take a miniature pilgrimage. A labyrinth is a winding, maze-like path, They have been found in many ancient cultures and are seen as sacred spaces. Labyrinths are still used throughout the world as meditative and healing tools. Discover for yourself the possibilities of the labyrinth. Taste the Huon….Journeys(available soon) We have created a range of seasonal Taste the Huon maps and menu cards to assist you in discovering the hidden gems of the spectacular Huon Valley. Purchase your premium food and wine straight from the farm gate and prepare your meal back at your cabin or ask our chef to prepare it for you (charges apply). BBQ and Outdoor Kitchen Our well equipped outdoor kitchen is the ideal place to share a meal.Furnished with everything you need to cook a delicious feast including stove, oven, and all food preparation and eating equipment. Reconnect with your friends and family with our complementary board games. Children’s toys also available for loan. Native Animal and bird watching.Each Cabin is equipped with basic information on Tasmanian wildlife. For the very keen we have binoculars and specialist textbooks available for loan in reception. NB. Huon Bush Retreats prides itself on being a TRUE RETREAT. Rooms are free from TV and normal 240 volt electricity (you will not be able to plug in your gameboy). If you (or the kids) truly cannot live without electronic entertainment for your stay please book our DVD/TV for which we have a very limited collection of DVDs. Other electronic equipment can be recharged at reception. |
