ALL our accommodation is located within the historic precinct of the famous convict village of Ross. Enjoy a nice red while sitting in the English garden on an old stone seat or park bench. There are plenty of songbirds to help you unwind. Sip your complimentary port by the fire. Choose the product or price range that suits you best. Hudson Cottage (c.1850) with its cottage gardens is perfect for the romantic retreat for a couple or a family of four. The antique furnishings and fascinating memorabilia amazes guests of all ages. Admire the hand painted frieze adorning the high walls at Church Mouse Cottage (c.1840). The bedroom features a romantic 4 poster bed and convenient ensuite. The rural view from the French doors to the cottage garden and church spire is unique. Snuggle by the warm glow from the wood fire sipping your complimentary port. Captain Samuel's Cottage (c.1830) is the largest and oldest cottage for tourist to stay in within the historic village of Ross. Three bedrooms offer plenty of room for the large group. This iconic cottage backs onto the river. Sit on the “Lurve seat” on our private land, feed the ducks or try catching an elusive trout. Perhaps you may prefer to enjoy happy hour under the shade of the pin oak . Our Bed and breakfast features “Miss Annies room”, “Music Room” and the 2 bedroom “Retreat”. Each room has a TV, ensuite, tea and coffee making facilities. The Breakfast room is bathed in winter sun filtering through the liquid amber. In the summer months this well known tree provides welcome shade for this airy room. The sound of songbirds from the patio add to the delight of guests enjoying the garden. In the evening check out the books in the cabinet in the living room. Across the road is the wood fired bakery to tempt you. The “Gardeners Retreat” is actually the Retreat without the key to gain access to the rest of the Bed and breakfast. You still have your own private bathroom, living room and two bedrooms but can choose to have breakfast to the other establishments in Ross. The wood fired bakery across the road is a popular choice. |

| Things To Do |
Ross, with its majestic avenues of elm trees presents to the visitor an atmosphere of old-world charm serenity and beauty unique in these days of speed and commercialism. A popular pastime in this English style village is simply strolling the streets absorbing its atmosphere and history. Soak up the serenity of a close friendly community; delight in the wonderful variety of our convict built sandstone homes. Visitors love the relaxed atmosphere of street dining at our cafes and bakeries. Hidden in the historic streetscape are shops with antiques, local made sculptures, crafts, gifts, wool products, souvenirs and artwork. Many anglers have kissed trout in the world-renowned Macquarie River, which flows under the Ross Bridge. An icon of Tasmania, the bridge was built by convicts in 1836 and has 186 carvings adorning the arches making it perhaps the most decorative bridge of its type in the world. Take time to visit the "Female Factory”, the convict female prison (1840’s-1850’s). The restored Overseer's cottage is open to the public. To really appreciate Ross is to stay in the village. Settled in 1821, Ross is only 50 minutes drive from Launceston or from the East Coast, and 90 minutes from Hobart. |
