How to get there:- By road via buses or taxis: 5 to 6 hours drive from Kuala Lumpur 2 hours drive from Butterworth via North South Expressway. By rail: Alor Star train station is located near to the CBD. Train services by Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) are between Kuala Lumpur-Alor Setar, Butterworth-Alor Setar, Padang Besar-Alor Setar, Hat Yai-Alor Setar and Singapore-Alor Setar. Tickets can be obtained from the train station or on-line booking. There is also an international express train service to Bangkok, Thailand, operated by State Railway of Thailand. By flight: Malaysia Airlines (MAS) and Air Asia fly daily from Kuala Lumpur to Alor Setar, 50 minutes. |
