The George Hotel established in 1854, the second licensed hotel in Ballarat, has played a key part in the city’s social history. In 1854 troops met in the dining room to plan the siege of the Eureka Stockade. Located in historic Lydiard Street North, the hotel is conveniently located in the city centre. Her Majesty’s Theatre, Ballarat Fine Art Gallery, Tourist Information Centre and city shopping is all within walking distance. The Hotel offers affordable brand new modern accommodation in a traditional hotel atmosphere. We offer rooms ranging from Studio, Standard Queen and Family featuring all of the modern conveniences. All rooms include free cable TV, movie channels, wireless internet and car parking. Also on site is a bar, bistro and nightclub. Please note Friday and Saturday evenings the nightclub operates until 5am and may cause noise to accommodation level. |

Entering from the M8 from Melbourne continue driving alongside the Bridge Mall to the city centre. You will come to a set of traffic lights on a slight hill. Turn right at the traffic lights into Lydiard Street North. The George Hotel is situated in the first block on the left side. Entering from the M8 from Adelaide continue to the city centre to the town hall. Turn left after the town hall into Lydiard Street North. The George Hotel is situated in the first block on the left side. Entering from Geelong continue to the city centre driving alongside the Bridge Mall to the city centre.
