An elegant Georgian Country House Hotel standing on the former site of a 13th century convent on the banks of the River Nent, which nestles in the foothills of Alston Moor on the Pennine Way between the Lakes and Newcastle. Situated 2½ miles from Alston in Cumbria the location makes it an ideal centre from which to visit the Lake District, Hadrian's Wall, the North Pennines, Durham Cathedral and the Yorkshire Dales. The bedrooms are individually styled and furnished in keeping with the ambience of the hotel, offering traditional design along with a full range of modern amenities all guests would expect from a hotel of this calibre. Bedrooms are equipped with full en-suite facilities, widescreen televisions, DVD players and a luxurious range of furnishings. The hotel restaurant provides elegant surroundings in which to enjoy the AA 2 rosette award winning cuisine prepared by resident Master Chef. Menus are imaginative and varied using mostly local produce. They have been described as being "British with continental excursions". FROM THE M6: Take junction 40 on the M6 and follow the A686 to Alston. Turn right on the B6277 signposted to Barnard Castle and then take the first left, the A689 to Nenthead, Stanhope and Durham. The entrance to the hotel is 2½ miles along this road on the left at the junction with the B6294. |

Alston is a small market town with cobbled streets in the Eden District, on the borders of Cumbria, Northumbria and County Durham. The beautiful countryside has been designated an 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty' making the hotel an ideal centre from which to visit three of Britain's most popular national Parks - the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and the Northumberland National Park. Close by is the World Heritage site of Hadrian's Wall and the beautiful cathedral city of Durham.
