Qualmark rated 4 star Plus - 12 spacious apartment style ground floor suites - a range of studio double suites, 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom family suites, some with spa baths. All have cooking facilities. Gables Motor Lodge is about 1.5kms from town centre but a short walk to licensed restaurant and supermarket. New aquatic centre opposite. We have an outdoor BBQ area for guests to enjoy on the warm summer evenings and swings for the children. DVD players and a selection of DVD's available free if charge as well as SKY TV. Continental breakfast options available. Free morning newspaper on request. Onsite guest laundry. Offstreet parking for all suites. We are happy to pick up from the Tranz Alpine on request and do any activity of accommodation forward bookings you require. A warm welcome awaits - you won't be disappointed. |

| Getting There |
If travelling into Greymouth from the South (from the Glaciers or Christchurch) we are on the main road into Greymouth township. We are located on the left hand side of the road with the aquatic centre opposite. If you are travelling to us from the North (from Westport, Nelson/Blenheim or Hanmer Springs) follow the signs to Hokitika/Christchurch. We are approximately 1.5kms south from the town centre on the right hand side of the road. |

| Things To Do |
Shantytown offers the experience of life in the 1800's. Ride the steam train, pan for gold or watch the working sawmill in operation. Entry tickets 10% cheaper from motel reception. Drive up to the Pancake Rocks at Punakaiki and beyond on one of the Top 10 Coastal Trips in the World. Take a short walk down Truman Track to the beach at Punakaiki - recently named as one of the Top 10 Short Walks in NZ by the AA. Go rafting, deep sea fishing (tuna), cave rafting with Nor'West Adventures at Charleston and see one of the most stunning cave systems and glow worm displays. Go offroad on a quad bike through the rainforest with On Yer Bike. If you love the outdoors then the West Coast of the Southern Alps is the place to explore and enjoy it all. We can direct you to walks from short 15 minute to 3 day walks - all with stunning scenery on the way. Stay a couple of nights with us and visit the Glaciers in a day. We have so much to offer - come and check it all out! |
