YHA Taupo is a Qualmark rated 4 star hostel and is located just a short walk away from New Zealand’s largest lake, Lake Taupo and Taupo town centre. A wide range of comfortable accommodation is available from our four-bed shared rooms to our private rooms both with and without ensuite facilities. Our fully self-contained lodge is also perfect for group accommodation. YHA Taupo offers a well equipped kitchen and dining area, which leads on to a sun filled deck with a BBQ and uninterrupted views across Lake Taupo to Mt Ruapehu and Mt Tongariro. With hammocks and a spa pool, this is the perfect place to relax after an adrenalin filled day in Taupo. |

| Getting There |
By Bus/Shuttle: Intercity stops at the Taupo Travel Centre in Gasgoigne St. A taxi would cost approx. $6 or it's a 10 minute walk. Turn left along Gasgoigne St, and left onto Tamamutu St. The hostel is on the right five blocks down on the corner of Kaimanawa St. Naked Bus stops at the i-Site; walk 3 blocks along Heu Heu St (opp the i-Site), then turn left onto Kaimanawa St. The hostel is two blocks up on the corner with Tamamutu St. By Car From East & South: head towards the town centre along the lakefront, turn right into Kaimanawa St, by the fire station. The hostel is five blocks up on the corner with Tamamutu St. From North: at the first roundabout turn left into Spa Rd and then turn right after six blocks onto Kaimanawa St. The hostel is three blocks down on the corner with Tamamutu St. By Plane: 8kms from the airport. Take a shuttle/taxi from the airport to our door for approx. $25. |

The cheapest skydiving in the Southern Hemisphere is in Taupo - and the views over New Zealand's largest lake are breathtaking. Visit the amazing Huka Falls where you can plainly see why they are so named - huka is the Maori word for foam. Take a steam boat or sail on the luxury Barbary yacht across Lake Taupo to see some ancient Maori rock drawings. Walk the Tongariro Crossing or go white water rafting on the mighty Tongariro river. The Craters of the Moon geothermal walk is a free geothermal area with elevated viewing platforms to see all the bubbling mud and steam. Relax in the hot pools at the Taupo Hot Springs Spa or at Wairakei Terraces. |
