The YHA Christchurch City Central hostel has an amazing array of facilities including two spacious fully equipped kitchens (one on each floor), a comfortable common room, a TV room, a games room with pool table/ foos-ball/video games, internet access including wireless, locker facilities, two laundry facilities, library exchange and disabled access…phew! YHA Christchurch City Central has a large variety of modern and clean backpacker accommodation in a safe and secure environment. And because there is no pub at this Christchurch backpackers you can be assured of a quiet night’s sleep. This Christchurch hostel also has an excellent information service run by our friendly staff and you can use our free domestic travel booking service to arrange any land-based travel or tour within New Zealand. Start your New Zealand experience at the YHA Christchurch Central, you might not want to leave. YHA New Zealand is a non-profit membership organisation. Non-members pay an additional NZ$3 per person per night fee upon check-in. Memberships can be purchased online or at the hostel. |

| Getting There |
From airport: Public bus to Cathedral Square which is 5 mins walk to hostel. Super Shuttle for door-to-door transport. By Train: Free shuttle service to train station each morning. It is about $5 return from train station to YHA. |
| Parking |
We have very limited parking at our hostel. You will need to check with reception when you arrive at the hostel to see if a parking space is available. We can not guarantee parking, nor can we reserve these car parks. Alternatively there is parking building across the road from the hostel and also street parking. We can give you more information on parking when you arrive at the hostel. |
| Things To Do |
• Take a trip up the Gondola for breathtaking views of the patchwork Canterbury plains, the majestic Southern Alps and gorgeous Lyttelton Harbour. • Visit some of Christchurch’s many cultural centres: the Antarctic Centre, the Canterbury Museum, the Tamaki Heritage village and the colourful Arts Centre weekend craft market. • For animal lovers, swim with the dolphins at Akaroa Harbour, visit the kiwis at Willowbank or Orana Park or simply feed the ducks along the picturesque Avon River in Hagley Park. • Get adventurous: snowboard or ski at Mt Hutt skifield, go white water rafting, hot air ballooning, paragliding, parapunting or skydiving. • Take a trip on the Tranz Alpine train - one of the top nine best train journeys in the world! There is a free shuttle from the hostel to the train station. • Take a day trip to sample Canterbury’s award winning wines at Waipara, cheese at Barry’s Bay or soak in the Hanmer Springs thermal hot pools. • Christchurch has kilometres of sandy beaches from New Brighton to Sumner where you can learn to surf, swim, sunbathe or just eat some of New Zealand’s famous hokey pokey ice-cream.
