Base Backpackers is located right on the beach on beautiful Magnetic Island. The double rooms are situated right on the rocks overlooking the ocean, you will not believe the view from your room!! There are a choice of dorm rooms from mixed dorms to the female sanctuary dorms which includes a sanctuary pamper package on arrival. The island bar has extensive decks overlooking the water, spend a lazy afternoon sipping on a drink and take in the magnificent views the hostel has to offer. By night the party scene comes alive with funky tunes and awesome bar games to keep the crowd entertained. The island bar at Base is the best party bar on the island! Base also has an onsite café open for breakfast and dinner daily with affordable and tasty food right at your doorstep. Whether your travelling, having a group party weekend or just need a few days in paradise…..you need to stay @ base!!! |

| Getting There |
Base backpackers Magnetic Island hostel is situated ON THE BEACH of Magnetic Island! We are only 20 minutes by ferry from Townsville. As you are on the Ferry coming accross to Magnetic Island. Look Left. You will see the picturesque resort in its own little part of Paradise!!! Passenger ferry: The ferry leaves from Townsville 12 to 19 times a day. This trip costs $29 return. When you get to the island, jump on the Magnetic Island bus and tell the driver you want express to Base Backpackers - we are only 2 minutes away. Car ferry: The car ferry is only a 2 minute drive from the base Townsville. When you arrive at Nelly Bay Harbour turn left, past the supermarket. When you are driving along the road next to the beach, you will see the resort at the end of the stretch. You will recognise it as our nearest neighbour is 1.2km away. |

Magnetic Island is a tropical island paradise with so much to do! -Snorkel the fringing reef - Go diving - Learn to dive at our onsite dive school - Hire a moke or scooter an explore the island yourself - Take an island tour by bus or tropicana tours - Go on a leisurely sailing trip - Get your adrenalin pumping on a jetski tour of the island - Visit secluded bays with a sea kayak - Go waterskiing, tubing or wakeboarding - Grab a rod and go fishing - Go hiking on some of the beautiful walking tracks dotted around the island - Get your photo taken holding a koala at the sanctuary - Spot koalas in the wild on the forts walk OR....simply relax on the deck at Base and enjoy the simple island life! |
