Bed and Breakfast Guest House San Frediano is housed in a beautiful 17th-century building located in the historic centre of Lucca, only 50 metres from the church of San Frediano and right next to via Fillungo, the city's main pedestrian street. The surrounding area, as well as having typical shops, has an abundance of great restaurants, taverns and traditional eateries, among which the most well known are Buca di Sant'Antonio (since 1782) a few steps away from the birthplace of Giacomo Puccini and the famous street Via San Paolino, the Antica Locanda dell'Angelo (the Angel's tavern) a few metres from the square of San Michele, Trattoria da Giulio, Trattoria Gigi and Locanda di Bacco not far from Via Fillungo. Thanks to its strategic position, the property is the ideal starting point to discover the art treasures of Lucca and the nearby Tuscan cities, as well as the Versilia sea resorts. ACCOMMODATION The Guest House offers Standard rooms and Superior rooms, which can be used also as single. They have been recently renewed and refurbished to offer a good quality accommodation. All rooms are spacious and bright, tastefully furnished and well appointed with attention to all details. Standard rooms, with shared bathroom on the floor, offer TV with HTV channel (Hospitality Television), wifi connection, fan and heating; Superior rooms, with private bathroom, offer satellite television LCD, wifi connection, safe and air-conditioning/heating. The bathrooms are well equipped with bathtub/shower, hair dryer and complimentary toiletries. On the second floor there is a comfortable reading room with internet point. BREAKFAST Each room contains a breakfast corner: a tray with all you need for a small Italian breakfast including brioches, croissants, cookies, milk, fruit juices and coffee pads to be used in all coffee makers available in the common areas of the hotel. In the afternoon, a tea maker will be made available to flavour a good cup of tea in the privacy of one's room, or in the cosy Luis XV parlour. We can organize: - Smart-Mercedes car rental and car rental with driver; - visits to the Ville Lucchesi and wineries with tasting of local products; - local excursions. |

The B&B is located in the pedestrian area, so you can get there by car just to down/upload luggage. We offer a pick up service from and to airports and train stations. The B&B is located inside a pedestrian zone, and for this reason it is possible to reach us by car for loading and unloading purposes only. There is a free car park only 10 minutes by foot from the B&B or a partnered private garage 15 minutes away. |
| Things To Do |
The Guest House San Frediano is an optimal point to start a visit to the historic centre of Lucca. Nearby one can find: Piazza of the Amphitheatre, built on top of the Roman amphitheatre ruins (II century A.C.), reachable from Via Fillungo. Basilica of San Frediano, one of the most ancient churches in Lucca, from where, on the evening of the 13th of September the religious procession of Santa Croce departs, in which the remains of Saint Zita are kept. Piazza San Michele with the homonymous church, where was once the antique Roman forum, that is why it is also called "in foro". This elegant square, surrounded by imposing buildings such as the Pretorio, is today a meeting place for the people of Lucca. The house birth place of Giacomo Puccini (1858-1924) the last musician of a family that dominated the music life of Lucca. A few kilometres away, reachable by train or bus, are well known sea resorts like the wonderful Versilia with its well equipped beaches, elegant restaurants and famous discos, and the green Garfagnana, a place that offers a wide range of villages, starting from the mountain areas up to the rolling hills, with antique hamlets rich in local traditions. |
