Pelham House is a 16th century hotel, situated near Brighton in the heart of the historic town of Lewes. The only four star property in the town offers 31 boutique rooms decorated in contemporary style whilst preserving many original historic features. The hotel is ideally located for all the coast has to offer. It is only a short walk from Lewes train station making it convenient for Eastbourne, Brighton, Chichester, Goodwood and Plumpton as well as having regular direct trains to London. All bedrooms are fitted with contemporary handmade oak furniture, remote controlled TVs, telephones and high speed internet access and have luxury en-suite bathrooms with either bath or shower and a range of natural toiletries and comfortable beds. Many of the rooms overlook the pretty south facing garden with its lawn and traditional English flowers and views of the South Downs. The restaurant focuses on simple and delicious food, using locally sourced products, at a fair price with a varied and constantly-changing menu. The restaurant is set in two of the most historic rooms of the house - the Panelled Room and the Garden Room, both dating back to the 16th century, with beautiful views over the gardens onto the South Downs. |

| Things To Do |
East Sussex is a richly varied county that absorbs armies of weekending Londoners whenever the weather is fine. Some come for the scintillating nightlife and shingly shores of Brighton, others to explore the white cliffs and civilised seaside charms of Eastbourne. Many more opt for romance amid the medieval streets of Rye or historic Battle, where William the Conqueror first engaged the Saxons in 1066. But you needn’t chase the Chelsea tractors to enjoy East Sussex. It’s just as rewarding to get off the beaten track and explore its lush countryside, linger along its winding country lanes and stretch your legs across the rolling South Downs. |
