The Railway Hotel Motel is located in the Business centre of Calliope on the Dawson Highway. The Motel offers both The corporate and the holiday maker comfortable modern accommodation in this newly built Motel in the beautiful rural landscape town of Calliope. The Motel is situated behind The Railway Hotel and has 10 apartments and offers one disabled friendly unit. The Hotel is open for lunch and dinner with A La Carte Bistro meals. There is a TAB, Keno, Gaming lounge and on-site Bottle Shop. The local town swimming baths are five minutes away. We are directly opposite the Calliope Post Office and Caltex Service Station. The IGA Supermarket 1½ kms. Calliope Medical Centre (Bulk Billing) Chemist and Newsagent. Calliope is Famous for the Heritage Calliope River Historical Village. We are minutes away from Lake Awoonga the perfect fishing destination. Calliope is a small country town 21 kilometres, or about 20 minutes, drive west of Gladstone. With a relaxed rural atmosphere, Calliope is surrounded by farms and a beautiful hinterland landscape. The area boasts a national park of rainforests and native bush, horse riding trails, bush camps, historical homesteads and lookouts with spectacular views over the entire Port Curtis area. With a population of 1700, the town of Calliope has The Railway Hotel Mote, a country club with a challenging golf course, and village shops. Just north along the highway is the Calliope River Historical Village, taking you back many years to capture some of the early history of the Port Curtis area. Fishing enthusiasts are well catered for with boat ramps provided at Boyne Island, Tannum Sands, Calliope River and Lake Awoonga. Choice mud crabs and such fish as bream, salmon, whiting, cod and flathead can be caught from the Boyne and Calliope rivers and the many estuaries running from these rivers. Lake Awoonga is a prime location for catching barramundi, with the bonus of being able to fish for these well-known angler prizes year round. Gladstone is 15 minutes away The city of Gladstone is located 550 kms north of the State capital, Brisbane - an hours flight, a day trip by electric train or highway coach, or half a day by car. The Gladstone Region is a unique area of Queensland - a region where opportunity awaits. The Motel is behind The Hotel on Main Highway (Dawson) through to Biloela. We are approximately 5 minutes from the Bruce Highway A1. Turn left onto the Dawson Highway on The Gladstone Bilolela Road and follow the Road to the cross roads where you will see the hotel on the left and Caltex Service Station on the Right. |
