Mill Bay Suites is just a couple of minutes by car from the shops and restaurants of Mangonui village and the beautiful Coopers Beach. The four spacious, self-contained and well-equipped units make each an ideal home base for those wanting to explore the scenic and historical treasures New Zealand's Far North. The front units are set over sub-tropical gardens with ever-changing views of Mill Bay and Rangikapiti Pa. Off-street parking is available for guests. Local company Paradise Connexions will pick you up at the gate and bring you on a wonderful day trip to Ninety Mile Beach and Cape Reinga. Bookings can be made directly by you or on your behalf by the motel staff. With wi-fi internet access (for reasonable use), 40+ channel TV, board games, a book swap option, BBQ and laundry facilities, even a day "at home" can be very relaxing. Your hosts Dee Mancini and Fiona McGrory have over twenty five years travel experience and know what it takes to "feel at home, away from home". |

Check in at the office any time from 2pm till 10pm. There is a bell by the office door. For check-in later than 10pm, please call to make arrangements. Early check-in or late check-out may be arranged the day before, depending on availability. |

| Getting There |
By plane to Bay of Islands (Kerikeri) or Kaitaia Airports. By Intercity Coachline bus to Mangonui from Auckland, Whangarei, Paihia, Kerikeri or Kaitaia. By car from Auckland: approximately 4hrs.+ from Auckland Harbour Bridge along State Highway 1, then State Highway 10. About 20 minutes after going through Kaeo, take the first sign-posted, right-hand turn into Mangonui's Waterfront Drive. Go through the village passing the Mangonui Fish Shop and the Police Station on your right. Continue up the hill on the same road, through Mary Hassett Street. Mill Bay Suites will be on your left with a big garden out front. (If you get back up to SH10, you have gone too far!) By car from Cape Reinga or Kaitaia: turn on to SH 10 at Awanui and travel for about 20 minutes. After going through Coopers Beach, take the first sign-posted left turn for Mangonui. Mill Bay Suites will be 200m along on your right, with a big garden out front. |

Off-street parking is available for guests. A second gravel driveway provides limited space for a boat, or other larger vehicle. Please let us know in advance if there will be more than one car per unit or if additional driveway space may be needed. |
| Things To Do |
If you have not been this far north before, do not miss the chance to make the day trip to Cape Reinga and Ninety Mile Beach. The various tour companies provide an enjoyable and very informative way to make the most of your trip. THINGS TO DO WITHIN 30 MINUTES OF MANGONUI *Swim, walk, kayak, windsurf, or collect shellfish on some of New Zealand's most beautiful beaches. *Fish from the local wharf or charter a half or full day fishing trip. * Walk the Mangonui Heritage Trail. Enjoy the historic sites and native plant and bird life. * Expand your mind and get some fresh air: take a guided botanical tour of Whangaroa on a 2hr. walk and 40min. boat ride. * Play golf at the Whangaroa, Carrington Club or Waitangi golf courses. * Visit Butler Point Historic Home and Whaling Museum. * Visit the Far North Regional Museum in Kaitaia. * Dance the night away at the local ceili which is held on the 3rd Saturday of each month. * Stop by Matthews Vintage Collection to see old cars, tractors, engines and farming memorabilia. * Check out the thrills and spills at a Taipa Stock & Saloon Car Rally * Rent a kayak for a couple of hours or for the day; sheltered sites available for beginners. * Take a 2 hour cruise around Whangaroa Harbour's untouched and rugged coastline. * Visit the Ancient Kauri Kingdom and Gumdiggers' Park for a look at life and work in times past. * Chill out at the Karikari Winery. * Drive or walk to the top of Rangikapiti Pa for stunning views of Doubtless Bay. Sunrise, sunset and fog provide extra special moments of magic. |
